A hiking friend once suggested he might treat his clothes with permethrin. Now the CDC is studying its effects on ticks and mosquitos, with positive results. The Amazon listing for Sawyer Products SP649 Premium Permethrin Clothing Insect Repellent Trigger Spray has a great video from the manufacturer that explains how it lasts for 42 days in UV or 6 washings, and how to apply it.
